OSU is now using a new disinfectant called BioVex made in Oklahoma. This disinfectant is on the EPA N List product it leaves zero residues and is certified organic. Oklahoma States maintenance staff will be using this disinfectant through a technology called electrostatic sprayers. This will help keep the students safe and will deliver the maximum amount of protection to students and staff. Electrostatic sprayers will help the disinfectant reach areas that would otherwise be neglected with conventional wiping.

What is in BioVex Disinfectant

BioVex comes in 2 different sizes and is delivered in a premeasured concentrate. It is a 40 to 1 dilution ratio and the 2 SKUs make a gallon or 5 gallons of ready-to-use product. The concentrate is made up of sodium chlorite and it is activated with a proprietary acid to create Chlorine Dioxide or ClO2.

What is ClO2 or Chlorine Dioxide?

Chlorine dioxide or ClO2 is a gas trapped in an aqueous solution that is used to disinfect and purify water, kill mold and mildew, and help keep produce fresh in the grocery store. BioVex is the worlds first EPA registered chlorine dioxide disinfectant. It can be used to spray hard non-porous surfaces, it activates in 20 seconds, and is approved for use in a fogger.
